Creativity Sparked

All these new Tim things always just spark me into creating. Here is a sample of what I have been doing.

These cards were made using the new Sizzix dies of Tim's, some kraft glassine, perfect pearls mists, kraft resist paper, Tim's embossing folders and distress stains.

First let me say the distress stains work great on the kraft resist papers. I also loved using them on the edges of things. The kraft glassine paper is very cool. Use the perfect pearl mists on them and the color beads up, so use a heat gun to dry. When you emboss or fold this paper the design shows up lighter. Really fun to play with. These cards are just a sample of a future class.

Make sure you come in to check out all the new things. Tim's crowded attic paper stash, and stickers, all the new ideaology trinkets, and the printers tray. We also got in some new colors of stickles, and liquid pearls. The pearls now come in some bright fun colors, and summer colors of stickles are in. These both are great for those finishing details. We also got Tim's stamps in this week. I am lovin the new design for his stamps. The image is on the foam side so you can see where you stamp. Very clever! Check out the set called "Reflections". Pure genius! This set stamps text or script backwards, for kissong other stamps with or using in the embossing folders. This way the final image come up forward. I LOVE this set. I'll have samples soon!

Check out the upcoming classes on the calender. Sam created a 7x7 album from the new My Minds Eye Stella and Rose line that is a beautiful book to hold your memories in. I have the fun Steampunk layout, and Lisa has a card class good for birthday celebrations.

We have been busy getting the April schedule up for you to see. Some great classes are there for you to check out. All the class descriptions on the calender have photos for you to see what the projects look like. Tis the Ornamental Season

Handmade ornaments make great gifts! It's the gift that has them thinking of you every year when they place that ornament on their tree. Each of us here at the store have made some ornaments that hang on our tree at the Opera House this year. Now we can teach you how to make these ornaments. We have classes scheduled, and at different price ranges. Just check out the calendar, or call us to set up a convenient time.

Near the register we have gift bundles made up for easy gift giving. Check them out for that scrappin' friend or relative. We have a beginners kit, and book kits like Tattered Angels kits, Disney kits, My Minds Eye kits, Tim's Tools kit.....even a Irock tool kit! Just something to keep in mind as you are doing your holiday shopping.

Have you made your gift tags yet? Lisa has made up some example gift tags using our stamp set from Hero Arts to give you ideas on how you can use them. They are adorable, and sure to add that pizzaz that makes your gift stand out. Come on in to see them.

New Hours- A Scrapbooking Retreat- Lance is Back

The bus trip was a BLAST! I hope all you ladies enjoyed your time and love each of the three make and takes you did. They each were fabulous even if I did put you through your paces. The gals at each of the stores we visited were gracious and friendly. They made everyone feel welcome. A big "Thank You" to each of them. I hope all of you enjoy the goodie bag from Lorraine's. Come in and show us what you make with it. We love to see what our customers are creating.

Fall into Fun at Lorraine's

If you haven't heard yet I wanted to let you know about all the fun planned here in the next few weeks. Join me on the bus-November 6th! We are hosting a bus trip to two lovely stores you may have not gotten a chance to go to before. But there is more than just shopping. Each store, including Lorraine's Memories, will have a make & take just for you along with in store specials and goodies. You start at Lorraine's Memories at 8am for breakfast, the make & take, and special sales, then we are off to Polka Dots in Mukwanego WI. On the way there will be games, laughs, and that exciting anticipation of a good time. At Polka Dots you will have time for a make & take, lunch and shopping. Back on the bus we go for a few more games and laughs to Memories & Beyond in Downers Grove. There we will shop, and do another make & take. Then we work our way back to Lorraine's Memories around 7pm. All this for just $55. Seats are limited so call and reserve yours now!

We have moved some things around to make room for all the new things.We have added classes to Monday evenings so you can have the extra opportunity to get into our popular classes. We will also be open later on Mondays for you shopping needs. Did You Know we are the only scrapbook store in McHenry County! We try to meet your needs and listen to what you want in your store. We are offering some great classes this month so check out the calender. We also are offering an ALL DAY crop each month. So come on out and see us, maybe stay to crop.

The annual Tim Holtz Christmas Tags Class starts this month. We will be using some of the NEW things Tim has released this year! Each month we will make three tags. so you will have a total of 12 when you are done. We use Tim's techniques that you see on his blog, and in his videos. Come on in and check out the samples for this months class.

Many apologies about photos promised... as I loaded them to add to the blog, my computer erased them. I saved them from the recycle bin but have to find where my computer put them to reload them into my photo program. Nothing good ever comes easy!

Hey Ladies,
We are back from the trade show!!!! The beautiful things we had seen were countless. I can tell you it will be worth coming back to the blog to see photos. I will post a some every few days. The things that we ordered were simply beautiful. There will also be a variety of styles. We did vintage, cute, elegant, and simple. We also are including some new companies to our collection. With each set of photos I will tell you of our adventures.

We also had some fun at the store in between the CHA days. Saturday July 24th was Melissa Frances Day at Lorraine's. Melissa taught three classes, (an art journal, cards, and a kitchen coupon book). We have a limited amount of kits left for these classes, if you didn't get in on the class come in asap to get a kit. I took each of the classes and loved my projects. The books are timeless treasures, & the cards are soooo pretty! So get em fast, they will soon be gone.

Wednesday, July 28th we had KC Burmingham from My Minds Eye here to teach a layout class. We all had fun creating with My Minds Eye "So Sophie", but best of all was the preview of the NEW line that is on it's way to here... "Lost and Found"!!!!! It is beautiful is all I can say. Come check out the sample projects made with this new line here at Lorraine's.

Here's hoping you all are enjoying your summer and creating memories you can preserve. We have been busy planning some exciting things for you to enjoy!
.... First we have a 12 hour crop this month. July 10... from 10am to 10pm. We will have lunch, dinner and some games! Come get some pages done with inspiration at the ready!
....We have some great classes coming up too. Lisa's popular "Designer Drawers" is back by popular demand. Use them for your scrap organization or for you jewelry. Create this beautiful box. We have a new class "Beginner's Stamping" where Lisa will take you through all the basics of stamping, inks, and embossing. I also have one more class for the "Remember Album". There only a few kits left so we have scheduled another class for Saturday July 17th at 12 noon. This is a stunning album and requires 3 1/2 to 4 hours to make. Bring your own adhesives and prepare to make something you will treasure. (Photos are on the blogs last post.) Also check out the "Altered Box" using Tim Holtz "Box Feet". It is STUNNING!!!
....Now we have some exciting news for you......Melissa Frances herself is coming to teach here at Lorraine's for one day. Mark your calenders and call fast to get your spot. She will be doing three projects with us.(see the Lorraine's Calender thru the link below) Each class is individually priced and adds to $110, but we have a special for you...sign up for all three for the special price of $95. Summer Fun

Things here at the store are so exciting. We have these great summer plans and I thought I would give you more info than the newsletter could. First there is this months classes to share. .....We have Marihannah's creations for kids. We have divided up the kids by age groups the younger group (4-9 years old) meet at 11am on Tuesday mornings and will be making cute things, such as simple mini books and more. The older kids (10+ years old) will be working on an 8x8 album. Every week they will do a two-page layout, and by the end of the summer they will have a complete book to put all their summer memories into.

.....Next Lisa has a few lovely classes. My favorite is her Monochromatic Cards. She used My Minds Eye "Lush" papers to create very simple elegant cards.(photos to come.) She also has a beginners stamping class that is sure to give you all you need to know about stamping. If you have a graduate in your life you might want to look into Lisa's Graduation 2 pg layout. She uses stickers and sparkle papers to showcase your celebration.

.....My classes I hope are ones you all have been waiting for. The "Remember Album has been getting a great response, and run at the end of this month. I have been working hard on these complicated kits that use Tim Holtz dies from Sizzix, border punches from EK Success, and 7Gypsies "Venice" papers. It is perfect for heritage, showcase a vacation, or wedding. A very versatile album.

There is a Thursday night class and a Saturday afternoon class Check out the calender for times and dates. If you love this album you will probably love the "Altered Box" class that uses some of the same dies but they are used on wood paper. Check out this box. These two classes are some of my most favorite things I have ever created for classes. I am very excited about them, and hope you are too. Come and join me for this very special creation!

NEW PRODUCT THIS WEEK.... Thing still keep rolling in! We received from
.....Tattered Angels NEW 'Chalk Glimmer Mists'. These show up opaque on your papers and have an incredible shimmer. We have colors that match up with our Melissa Frances papers. Speaking of Melissa Frances, did you know she is coming to teach here next month? We are excited about her coming here to teach I three classes here at the end of July.
....My Minds Eye- 'So Sophie' is here and looks to be as popular as all the other great lines from this company. Look for classes from My Minds Eye themselves coming next month. KC who was here a couple years ago has made plans to be here next month and teach while he is in town for the CHA trade show. We had so much fun when he was here and I can't wait to see what he has cooked up for us to do. We also received "Meadowlark" a new paper line in kits. This black and white line is very vintage. I can see weddings, special occasions for this line.
.......Come check out the new "Toolbox" paper and stickers from Creative Imaginations for Dad. Their die cut paper is going so fast we are on out second reorder.

Wow, Spring is Here!

I hope you are taking lots of photos of all your outdoor activities. The weather has been kind to us this spring. We have a BOGO (buy one or two, get one) sale this weekend April 16 & 17. Spring is Here

So much has been happening. Last month we were an on sight store for the Lay it Out Loud Crop in Lake Geneva and it was fabulous. We had never done anything like that and we learned a lot on how to do it even better. So in May we will be the on sight store for another crop retreat. I have to tell you about it! "Spring into Scrapbooking" is the name of the crop, and this time it will be at "The Abbey Resort" in Lake Geneva. It is only 25 minutes from the store and it sounds like a fabulous time. We will even be offering two classes (extra fee) at this crop. Check it out at,

It sounds like a great value and a fun time! We talked to some ladies at our store crop this past weekend and there was a lot of interest. More details about the classes next time.

We have a lot of classes coming up this April. An Easter Layout with We Are Memory Keepers Hip Hop Line, a Graphic 45 Layout, Basic Grey Layout, a Shabby Chic My Minds Eye Layout. Then we also have the Karen Foster Designer Drawers class using some new Bo Bunny. There is a beautiful Mini Book offered using some 7gypsies Victoria papers and envelopes. Check out "Chipboard Elements", it uses Tim's new inks & metals with Wendy Vecchi stamps. Lisa has a cute class "Gift Giving Essentials" where you will make everything you need to give a gift (card, bag & box) using Webster's Pages papers. I'll put up photos of these soon, but you should come in and check it out. The samples are on the table by the register.

We are Back !!!

Hello Friends,
It was a fun and work filled week. My shoulder will never be the same. I thought I might post some pics of what we ordered. We had our preview last night at our FRIDAY night crop, and everyone there got a few pieces of something brand new to take home for themselves. We also did a cute Valentine Tag Make & Take with using a new punch we ordered. We all had fun and some beautiful things were made. Tonight is the SATURDAY NIGHT CROP, I'll be there & hehe, (you never know what sale I will come up with tonight). It's never too late to call and sign up, or come in to see me and a few of the things we ordered.

This is two of the three lines we order papers from. The company is of course BASIC GREY.

The one line is a wedding line (right) , but it can be used for anything. It is very elegant and there are some masculine designs in it. I will be teaching a vintage layout with these.

We noticed some trends at the show. Shabby Chic is BACK !!!! Also HOT are, butterflies, peace signs, damask, pale colors, glitter, camping, and pearls. I did not see alot of Fresh &Funky anymore, but cute was also in. Almost everyone had something elegant in their line.

Another day of walking around and trying to pick you the best! We got to see alot, yet there is so much more to see. Here are some of the things you will be seeing at Lorraine's.

Basic Grey had this beautiful elegant wedding line. Just Stunning!!!!!

They also had a new dog cat line that is really cute.

A New company for us "We R Memory Keepers" had stinkin cute papers we couldn't resist. We have an exclusive deal with them now, a new release every month packed with page kits, card kits, papers, embellies, stamps, pre-made pages, and more. This will not be in the big box stores, only independants and we are one of them. Whoa! So cute!!!!!

Can you see what I am holding. Tim gave me one of his new dies. Can't wait to try it out. The whole line is wonderful and holds so much potential for creativity. Can't wait to create! And I got a peek at his new machine due out in July. It's a suitcase. Very original!!!!!!

We are at the Craft and Hobby Association winter show, where all the new spring and summer products are revealed. We have taken a few classes and have been very inspired by what we have seen. I know I have fallen in love with some things. We took a class from Melissa Francis and I loved her papers and the things she offered to embellish with. One very unique thing was crepe paper. We made beautiful roses with her very thick crepe paper. Here are some other things at her booth that inspired me.

We visited Tattered Angels and saw the new Glimmer Glaze, and Glimmer Glam. Both are brushed on but with a little different results. You will now be able to paint on a translucent glaze of color with shimmer onto Glimmer Glass and Chipboard. The Glam has colored glitter in it along with the mica base we are used to in the mists. They also have expanded the Traveler embellishments with glimmer chips and glass. Hiedi Swapp has now joined the design team at Tattered Angels, and has a whole line with the embossed resist we are used to on her "Invisibles". All was very cool !!!! I can't wait to recieve the new stuff in March.

I stopped by the Ideaology booth to see Tim Holtz's NEW items and they were drop dead gorgeous. I mean gotta have NOW beautiful, and second best to that I got to order them for you. They will be in the store soon and we will have ideas on how to use them. There are new metals, a tissue ribbon, 12x12 paper pad, & metal clock faces. Here is a samples of a grunge paper coat that was on display. Tommorrow I will try to post photos of some other Tim things with metal.

So tommorrow more classes and more photos of some beautiful new products!

We are here in rainy California! It is still warmer than home. Now we are getting geared up to find you the best. Check out Tim Holtz's blog to see some very cool Ideaology things he is releasing. I was drooling this morning. Keep checking in on monday and tuesday for pictures and info on what we see. I am so excited to be here, and I can't wait to share it with you. At the crop on friday 1/29 Kathy and I will show you some of the things we made in the classes we are taking, and any samples we are given by the vendors. Many apologies for not keeping updates here. We have been bouncing from one event to the next. I can hardly believe x-mas is almost apon us. FUN for a good cause!

Scrap Pink was a blast. If you missed it, you must do it next year. There were LOTS of giveaways, and everyone got a goodie bag. The silent auction for Hope Fuller was a success too. The merchants from Woodstock who donated were very generous. There was food all day. Coffee, cookies, and candy. We enjoyed a talk about breast cancer and the different technology there is available today. Most of all we met new friends, and had a lovely time. I hope our attendees will join us for our Friday and Saturday crops where I can continue to get to know all of you better. I saw some projects that gave me great ideas, and I was inspired. I can't wait to get to work.

Kim's tip of the week: When making cards to mail you must have no bulk. Add dimension without height by embossing your backgrounds or paper pieces of your shapes before you adhere them. I use my Sizzix Big Shot and I emboss with embossing folders, brass templates. texture plates of all brands, and sometimes the vegetable netting you get your onions or oranges in or in the bottom of your pizza box. The netting is also good for masking when using glimmer mist.

kim's tip of the week-For oops with rub-on's......they can be removed if recently adhered. Just use scotch tape over them and gently pull up on tape and rub-on should come off on the tape.

SEI - Glimmer Mist - Dew Drops Etc.

Some of the new things coming in are new to Lorraine's.

SEI, known for quality and coordinating, has joined us with the line "Monrovia". These flocked or foiled double sided papers are a solid value, and have coordinating die cuts and epoxy stickers.

Glimmer Mist, the new fall colors are in as are new bingo boards, and "frosty memories" glimmer glass and mist kits (3 bottles- frosty, slate, old lace, and a screen). We also received the new 15"x30" glimmer mats, for easy glimmer use.

Dew Drops, we received lots of different colors- blu & grn, org & blk, red & grn, blk & wht, grn & pk, metlc pk rd & gld, vanl brw. All the colors for fall, and winter card making!

McGill Punches- snowman, angel, cupcake, holly with berries, and fancy square in 2 sizes. The cool thing about these punches are the paper piecing ability of the pieces they punch out.

Judi Kins- This is a new product for us, ROXS. Come in and check it out. We will be making some very cool jewelry pieces with these ROXS. Wear them or decorate your mini albums or pages with them.

Thanks for a Good Time

Many Thanks go out to Lance Anderson from Rusty Pickle for coming out to Lorraine's and teaching a fun project. Our books are precious and we welcome you to come in and see them. We even have some extra kits to teach the class in the future. The shaker box was inventive, and each of our albums have our own personal touch to them. This album uses chipboard and double-sided patterned paper, so it was very simple to assemble. Lance walked us right through it. Then we embellished them with rub-ons, stickers, foiled paper, ribbons, and tags. It was a good time.

Today is Methodology Monday and today's class is about Grunge products, but there are many more techniques we will learn along the way. Check out the background on this tag. All done with ink and stamps. We also will make a grungepaper flower to put onto our tins for next month.

That's right, next month is the final Methodology class this year, and we will be decorating our tins with alcohol inks. Come in and check out the examples of the tin at the workshop table by the register. If you haven't taken these classes yet I hope you'll join us for either of these info packed classes.

This month's offerings of classes are great. There is a 2 page layout, a mini book, kid's classes, a card class, even a jewelry class. Come in and check it out!

The heat is on and Summer has arrived at Lorraine's!
Check out the NEW sizzlin' summer dies from Sizzix. Arrows to beach shapes, and my favorite bracket shape. You asked for it and it is here! We also have the Sizzix Cut Above program. For a $36 punch card, you get a die with class project each month for three months.
Be sure to check out all the new shapes just in.

I saw Lance Anderson from Rusty Pickle last night, and I got to see the album we will be making Saturday night. WOW! It is much bigger than I thought. At least 9"x8". It was super cute, and had some metallic papers and chipboard shapes. All the pages were chipboard. With a few small flips in between. I can't wait! We still have a few spaces open. Get in on a really great time, and a very special project. Be one of the very first to take this class!

Methodology Monday is July 6 at 1pm & 5:30 pm. This month we will be doing GRUNGE. We will also do a beautiful grungepaper flower to use on our tins next month. We will also do a very cool tag in a grunge quilt, with embossed and stamped grungeboard. Check out the examples on the class sample table by the register.

We are now open till 8pm on Wednesdays for the summer concerts on the square. Stop in and see us while you enjoy a concert in the park.

New Layout

Here is the layout I promised. It is the new Tim Holtz Layout class. You can come into the store and see it up close and personal (without photos). This layout was designed by me and uses masks, distress inks, the blending tool, stamping, crackle paint, Tim's metals, and of course grungepaper. I hope you like it. This class is June 26 , 2-4pm and is $25.

I hope everyone has a great Father's Day Weekend! Come on in and make your Dad's day cards. The pop-up one is my favorite. Check it out.

The lambs are fuzzy! The card is made with the new Sizzix die for making pop-ups, and is the only one of three cards in the class that pops. This class is Thursday at 6pm. It's only an hour, and I'll be in this Friday and Saturday nights for the crops if you want to do the class while at the crops. Watch for more classes on pop-up cards, and come in and check out the other Sizzix dies we have that are made to make things interactive. They are so fun!

I am very excited that Lance Anderson co-founder of RUSTY PICKLE is coming to Lorraine's to teach a class June 27 at 7pm. Even better, he will be teaching us a new project not taught anywhere before. We are the FIRST!!! He will be teaching a mini album using the new "Rockin America" paper we just got in at the store.

You do not want to miss this opportunity! I have taken classes from Lance before and I can say I not only have had a GREAT time, I learn so much, and am inspired every time. He is one of my favorite instructors! Rusty Pickle projects are usually full of interactive pull-outs, pockets, and flips. So be ready to create something very cute. You'll want to bring a basic tool kit (dry adhesive, trimmer, scissors, ruler, liquid glue, craft knife, bone folder, black pen, distress tools).
Hint- Lance loves chocolate!!!

Thankfully, winter appears to be over for us, but we're still receiving new product from the trade show we went to in January....We've just checked in alot of old favorites to re-stock, as well as a large variety of new things-

We replenished some of the GLIMMER MIST, TIM HOLTZ, HEIDI SWAPP, FISKARS, KAREN FOSTER and BO BUNNY DOUBLE DOT areas.
There are new acrylic stamp blocks and block sets from APPLE PIE MEMORIES that fit our TECHNIQUE TUESDAY stamps really well.
WE've got some new papers, stickers and clear overlays from LITTLE YELLOW BICYCLE and CLOUD 9, some new trinkets, chipboard, acrylic and ribbons from MAYA ROAD. MOXXIE has us ready for amusement parks and rollercoaster fun.

Ar you getting ready for graduations, weddings or need to make some teacher gifts? You're welcome to use the ACCU-CUT die cutter to make cakes, party favors, cards and mini books while you're here! Just pick out your papers and we'll walk you through the cutting process. Stop in to see Samantha's BEAUTIFUL "cake" samples. You'll find yourself looking for an excuse to have a party, just to show off one of these!

What a Fun Weekend

I hope all of you got a chance to celebrate National Scrapbook Day! We did it in style. Above are two of the make and takes we had offered. The 2 page layout is done with the new My Minds Eye Penny Lane and still has some kits available for $10. The flower on the right is made with the new Grungepaper, distress inks and Maya Road metal flowers. Some lucky ladies got to make these one of a kind flowers which they could make into a pin. Of course you could always frame it and use it as a source of inspiration as we had below.

We really had a nice time getting to know everyone who came in Saturday. Everyone had the chance to make a card using the new electric Sizzix machine, and a beautiful Technique Tuesday scalloped tile stamped embellishment. There will be more photos to come of the festivities, and I will have the names of the winners of the drawings.

This weekend we are offering a special class we revealed Saturday. If you love the look of the Grungepaper flower make and take you won't want to miss this class. Have you seen the new Ideaology ad in the scrap mags? We have a two page layout featuring Grungepaper flowers, butterflies, Tim Holtz metals (including the new metal flowers, & Ornate Plates), and Tim Holtz new mini masks. Below is just a quarter of one of the pages. You'll have to come in to see the whole layout. We are offering this class Friday and Saturday 5/8 & 5/9(call for times, and sign up). This month's Methodology Class was full of technique tips. The subject was MASKS. and we created beautiful tags with Tim Holtz, & Heidi Swapp masks, and Tattered Angels glimmer screens with glimmer mist & chips. Below is just one of the tags we did using these products.

I hope this inspires you to create something beautiful today. Capture a memory, or experiment with something new. There are only three Methodology classes left, & there are only a few kits left from April's class. Call to catch up if you have fallen behind. Next month the technique will be PAINT. We will use paint in ways you didn't know you could! We are building towards that Tin in the sixth class that I will reveal at the end of June.

National Scrapbooking Day

Sorry to have been away so long. My computer has been sick. I am sending this on an I-touch. I hope you can join us Saturday May 2, for National Scrapbooking Day! There will be a 2 page layout workshop at 10:30 am for $10, this is with My Minds Eye new "Penny Lane" papers. There will also be a $5.00 make and take that is a must do, a beautiful Grungepaper flower. We will take you through all the steps of ink, stamping, and use Tim Holtz metal with a pin backing if you choose. You won't want to miss this. There will also be FREE make and takes, giveaways, and a crop at 12 noon to midnight for $35 (2 meals and loads of fun).

Another country heard from...

Realizing that some of the things I'm going to ramble about in today's post are covered in today's post by Kim, I'll first apoplogize, then introduce myself....I'm jen...another of the Lorraine's Memories "family". I really just wanted to share my excitement for NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY with all of you.

Everyone has a few days scattered throughout the year that they really look forward to...birthdays, anniversaries, the last (or the first) day of school, and of course, NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY! On Saturday, May 2nd, Lorraine's Memories will be celebrating, and would love for you to be a part of it! We'll be here from 10 am until....mmmm...midnight or so. If you have a scrapbooking emergency, this is when to have it, although the make n takes will only be offered until 5:00 pm, (so we can tend to our croppers, too) This is the day we as scrapbookers and papercrafters can get together and get inspired, learn something new, and make some new friends.

We'll be kicking off the day with a two page layout using My Mind's Eye PENNY LANE papers and DEW DROPS from the Robin's Nest. This class will be from 10:30 am until Noon and the cost is $10. Be sure to call us or stop in to reserve your spot!

Beginning at noon we'll have a variety of make n takes. One is an embossed thank you card using the Ellison BIG SHOT machine. Can't wait to show you how EASY it is! Try your hand at stamping with Technique Tuesday. We'll be using TECHNIQUE TILES, MINI MISTERS and STICKLES to create a great spring embellishment. These will be run throughout the day and are free to you...to learn some new techniques or brush up on your skills.

Curious about GRUNGE PAPER? HITCHES? DISTRESS INKS? Beginning at noon, and every half hour through the day, we'll be teaching you to transform these fabulous idea-ology products into "Grungepaper Flower" pins. For a $5.00 fee we'll introduce you or re-aquaint you with the altered world of TIM HOLTZ.

I'll be "working" part of 12 hour crop, and would love to see a full house in honor of the day. We always have alot of fun, great food...and who doesn't like to get free stuff-and a discount to boot? While you're here, be sure to check out the samples around the store of all of our projects...and sign up for a class soon. We love to share our ideas with you...and are here to help you chronicle your life's fleeting moments.

Make and Takes This Saturday

If you can make it in Saturday, you will have a chance to do some make and takes with me and Jen. One will use Glimmer Mist with Hiedi Swapp Invisibles, the other will use Fiskars Scallop punch with matching stamps. We will also have a demo every hour on the hour. Come on in and see us.

Upcoming classes.....

We have some exciting classes. Join us for an introduction to Artist Trading Cards, where we will show you what they are all about, and maybe we could arrange a swap. Mother's Day is around the corner and we have the handmade gift to give. How about altering a wood plaque with crackle paint, and disrtress inks, then dress it up in ideaology Fragments using My Minds Eye "Bella Bella" papers. Top it off with ideaology (Tim Holtz) word keys, corners, and key holes. We even add photos.

If those are not for you, maybe the Bind it All Interactive CD mini album is. We have one for a Girl or Boy. Your choice. The Boy album is done with the darling Piggy Tales papers "Billy Goats Gruff" and is all about GEARS. There is even a wheel page that turns. The Girl album is done up in My Minds Eye "Penny Lane". It is all about FLOWERS, and has a flower wheel page that turns. These are too cute and you can do the whole album in one class. Check it out at the counter of the store.

Now there is another mini album class we will add at a later date, but it is on display at the counter. Check out WHO it is about.

Don't forget the second Methodology class is on April 6th. We are going to go from elegant to eclectic in one class, while we do some unusual techniques. Tags are on display at the counter. I would love to hear some comments on what you think of our class samples.

Monday I will reveal the second sample for Methodology Class #2.

Methodology Monday Encore

Good Monday Morning!
What a beautiful weekend it was.
Today is the last chance to get in on Methodology Class #1 (Glossy Accents).
We used glossy accents in some unusual ways, and learned other things along the way.

Now let me show you a tag for the Methodology Class #2. See if you can guess what technique we will be working with. If you took class #1 you already know. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think it might be!

Now here is something new. It's Monday and I have a Methodology Monday Tip for you:

When you are done using your Glossy Accents, slam the bottle down onto work surface upright. This forces the product out of the nozzel and into the bottle, avoiding the dreaded clog in the tip.

This is also a class we are offering at the end of April. It uses Ideaology Fragments and Metals, with My Minds Eye new line of paper "Bella Bella", on a wooden plaque we alter in class, and attach a satin ribbon to hang. This is the perfect Mother's Day gift for Grandma. Come into the store to see it upclose.

New product: Petaloo flowers, Flower buttons, X-Large binder rings IN COLORS, & lots of Zig Pens.

Update on New Product

BOY, have we been busy putting out the new arrivals! Jen and I have also been making up projects for April classes with some of the new products (and I'll post those with pics next week).

The first Methodology class was a lot of fun. One lady came convinced she wouldn't be able to do the techniques, but she did and they turned out beautiful. We played with spray inks, enbossing powder, ideaology fragments, the blending tool with foam, and of course glossy accents. This class was so popular we are running an encore next Monday (March 23rd). I know some of you work 9-5, so we are running the class at 7pm. Sign up if this works for you. We can always add this late time to the rest of the classes. This is the last time to get in on this class and qualify for the free tin in the sixth class. Thank You to all the ladies who were there on the 2nd. I had a great time teaching you. We had a lady come all the way from Kankakee to take this class. I look forward to seeing everyone next month! Next Monday I will post a pic of one tag from class #2. Stay tuned...

What a great Tuesday Morning!

I am hoping for another sunny day. Here is the photo I promised. This is one of three samples for the first Methodology class. I will post sample #2 over the weekend, and #3 the following friday. Of course photos do not show all the details, (like glitter and a flexable acetate petal), so stop into the store to see them. Only at the store will you find out the technique for this month. We will be doing unusal things in this class, but simple.

Oh, did I forget to mention GIVEAWAYS! There might be a lucky winner or two in each class. Remember this class is offered ONE day only. Our table only seats 8 people. You need to take all six classes to qualify for the free lunchbox tin. This is a popular class so call to reserve your spot. A 50% deposit required.

Here is a treat of inspiration, (and a little sneek peek) by Jen. She made this mini album with paper from "Jellibean Soup" a new company whose papers we will have in the store soon. I can't show you the whole album so you'll have to come in to see the tree that loses it's leaves. If you don't know Jen's work, it is worth a trip in to see it. A lot of fun interactive elements packed into one album.

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you! We hope the day is filled with happy memories for you.

We have been busy at the store putting out new product. Be sure you come in to see whats new!

I wanted to give some info out on some upcoming classes:

Two page "LOVE" layout workshop is offered on three different days. It is too cute! There is a pocket for extra photos and journaling tags, and chipboard pieces too. Simple to do, yet full of texture and elegance.

Our "Card Stock" class is a chance

to stock up on your everyday cards. Birthday , thank you, and more. These are the cards we never have enough of. Join us to make 6 cards (2 of each).

Our technique card class features chipboard this month. The "LUCKY" card class will teach you three ways to use chipboard on your cards.

Also we offer a monthly TEEN SCAP n NIGHT for teens to come in and scrap with us. It starts at 5pm and goes till 8pm.

I know how much I like to learn new techniques and new ways of using things I already have, and I thought you would too! So we came up with "Methodology".....

By Tuesday I will post some photos about our exciting NEW class, "METHODOLOGY". This class is on what we like to call "Method Mondays"! It is a 6 class course on the first Mondays of the Month. It will be offered two times on Method Mondays. Each class teaches you three ways to use a specific technique. Some of the things we will be using are heat embossing, masks, alcohol inks, acrylic, metals, stamps, and paints. You get printed instructions and make three different tags each class. If you take all six classes, you will recieve a lunchbox tin in the sixth class, (at no extra charge), to alter in that class. This tin will hold all your instructions and tags from all the classes. Oh, and did I mention we will be using some Tim Holtz products, ideas, and techniques. A discount is offered for day of class on products used in class. Hope you will join us! Just $20 per class. Call to reserve your spot, a 50% deposit required.

Welcome to the first post of Lorraine's Memories Blog!

We are excited to be able to bring you all the goings on at the store. Owner Kathy Benson works hard at bringing you things that you won't find in the big box stores.

We offer a cozy boutique-like atmosphere designed to inspire your creativity. All this nestled on the historic Woodstock Square.

We carry a large selection of products from 7 Gypsies, My Minds Eye, Disney, Technique Tuesday. and More. We offer the Sizzix "A Cut Above" program, and a wide selection of original, and sizzlet dies. We have a large selection of local school Patterned Papers and embellishments.

Our designers Jen, Sam, and Kim help create examples and classes to teach and motivate your imagination. Here are some photos of February's class projects:

Coming in March we are starting a new 6 class course offering different techniques using Tim Holtz products and techniques. It is called "Methodology" and is offered on Method Mondays, (the first Monday of the month). Starts Monday March 2. Photos and details to come next week.

I am Kim and I will be posting every week, but sometimes you might hear from the other girls too. There are so many new and exciting things planned for the coming months.
